Delicious and Healthy Teas you should be sipping on this season

Tis the season to sip delicious teas! Well, all seasons are perfect to have a cup of tea but summer is the most wonderful time of the year to try your hand at sweet teas, iced teas and plenty of other tea-based beverages. Let’s dive right in to see which delicious and healthy teas should be brewing up in your kitchen right now.

Sweet Teas

Ah, the very mention of the word brings up images of lazy afternoons on the patio. Sweet teas are traditionally made from Black Tea leaves. The deep colour and rich flavour are what sets aside a Sweet Tea. Classic Black Teas and Nilgiris Teas brew a smooth and flavourful Sweet Tea.

Recipe for a perfect Sweet Tea

  • 3.5 teaspoon Classic Black Tea
  • ½ cup Cane Sugar
  • 6 cups of Water
  • Ice

Bring water to boil in a pot. Add black tea leaves when water boils over. Remove pot from heat. Stir the liquid for 30 seconds. Allow the leaves to steep for around 4 - 5 minutes. Strain the tea leaves and pour the brew into a pitcher. Add ice and sugar to the pitcher when the brew comes to room temperature. Refrigerate till cold. Enjoy the sweet tea with a wedge of lemon. Cane sugar can be replaced by agave or honey. Cinnamon sticks and orange slices can be added to the pitcher during refrigeration for that extra punch.

Golden Spice Tea a.k.a Turmeric Tea

Turmeric, also known as the golden spice has come to the forefront of the tea market in recent years. However, Turmeric has been a household name in the Indian kitchens for centuries. Turmeric tea is warm, delicious and healing to the body and mind.

Turmeric Tea Recipe:

  • 2-inch fresh turmeric
  • One cup of water
  • 1 inch cinnamon stick
  • 1 inch ginger
  • Few peppercorns

Bring water to boil. Slice in the turmeric into rings, grate the ginger, add the cinnamon stick and few crushed peppercorns. Steep for few minutes. Strain and enjoy the tea with a dash of honey. This invigorating blend is sure to awaken all your senses.

Iced Tea

Tea-times are slowly becoming Iced-Tea-times and tea cups are replaced by mason jars as the degrees are rising up. Its time to try different flavours of Iced tea to beat the heat this summer. Iced teas are hydrating and delicious – two reasons to at least have a cup a day.

Healthy Iced Tea Recipe

  • 3 tablespoons of favourite flavour of tea
  • 2 litres of water

Boil the water and bring down to room temperature or close to warm. Stir in the tea crystals (peach tea, berry tea etc). Close the mason jar and refrigerate. You can add berries, mint leaves, orange slices, cinnamon sticks to make the tea more flavourful. This is the perfect summertime drink you can ever have!
